How I Monitor the Rhythm of My Heart

I admit it...I’m an Apple© geek! I love Apple© products and own quite a few of them. So, in true Apple-geek form, I watched the Apple© September 9, 2014 Live Event with great anticipation. Apple announced two new iPhones, the iPhone 6 and IPhone 6 plus. Yay…the preciousssss!!!!

It also announced the long-awaited Apple Watch©. It has all of the bells and whistles we hoped for…a souped-up camera, gps, fitness monitor, instant messaging, and apps galore.

By far, however, the greatest geek moment for me was when they demonstrated the Apple Watch’s ability to send your heartbeat to another person via SMS messaging! With cinema quality video (and true Apple style), they described beauty of the watch and its added-value using words like personal, intimacy, connection, and desire. Whoa! Imagine…the ability to share your heartbeat with another person. Well…we don’t have to imagine do we? It’s here…. Technology is incredible!

And, yet, it pales in comparison to what God has done. He shared His heartbeat with us a long time ago. We love because he first loved us. (1 Jn 4:19) God loved me first! He shared His breath, consciousness, life…His heartbeat with me. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 Jn 4:10)

His life in me. His heartbeat resonating in my heart. His power resident in my being. This is the love the Father has lavished on us.

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Sinces, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of God. For if while we were nenemies were were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by His life. (Rom 5:8-10)

He has sent us His heartbeat. You won't find it on a digital device strapped to my wrist. Instead, it reveals itself in my musings, my words, my choices, my relationships.

It presents itself quietly, confidently, boldly, and fearlessly.
His heartbeat reminds me I’m not my own. It reminds me I’m loved with an everlasting love. The rhythm of His heartbeat is consistent. When my physical heartbeat skips or quickens, His remains steady. Words such as personal, intimate, connection, and desire are even more appropriate to describe the quality of relationship He has with me. Intimate communion....

You yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. (1 Pet 2:5 )

I am His. He is mine. Today, there is a live event going on in my heart and in the heart of anyone else who names Christ as Savior…. It is the power and presence of God. I am born again into a living hope. I’m connected to the Creator of the universe, El Olam—the Everlasting God. He owns time, and He has shared His heartbeat with me, not through a watch but through His Son, Jesus. Becasue He has shared His heartbeat with me, I’m able to share mine with you! I hope you'll share back….

Stay close to Him. Live beautiful.
