The Priceless Love of God

How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 36:7

What causes us to declare something #priceless? Is it priceless because

  • it's valuable for a long time?

  • it's worthy of being treasured?

  • its value can't be estimated?

David declared God's love precious, excellent, faithful, priceless! His love extends to the heavens. That tells me it's immeasurable. His faithfulness reaches to the skies! There is no love like the love of God. It's an unending and unfailing love. His love provokes us to take refuge in Him and encourages us to walk in ways worthy of His love! Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Psalm 36:5 ESV

A priceless love that doesn't fail me

Lovingkindness is a reference to a covenant love that doesn't abandon or forsake. It doesn't flip out on me when I flip out. It doesn't run for the hills when trouble shows up. Instead, it stays and fights on my behalf. It's an enduring love that acknowledges my inconsistency, can handle my lack of maturity, and anticipates my susceptibility to falling. God, in His lovingkindness and as the God of covenant, picks me up when I fall, nurtures me back to steadiness, and walks alongside me as I try again.

This is my sanctifying process....

As useless behaviors die and dead works are pruned, I change.

As I allow Him to lead and guide, I am transformed.

A priceless love that makes me feel safe

His love sees every part of who I am, then covers my imperfections with His own beauty. It provides protective shade when the cares of this life shine blindingly bright. It defends me when accusations are hurled against me. It's a love I can run to even if the accusations are legitimate--He sees me, He knows me, He loves me.

Spread Your faithful love over those who know You, and Your righteousness over the upright in heart. Psalm 36:10 HCSB

A priceless love that continually purifies my heart

Because it's a love that draws me nearer to Him, I am refined in His presence. In Psalm 139:17, David cried, "search me O God and know my heart...." His love purifies our hearts, and we're yielded to Him. This is a continual prayer for me. It doesn't take much for my heart to feel "gunky." Uncontrolled thoughts, wrong attitudes, and selfish motives find me in a place where God needs to wash my feet afresh!

How priceless is the love of God?  As you reflect on the priceless love of God, how would you characterize it?

Stay close to Him. Live beautiful.
